2. How was the organization founded and by whom?

1st Veterans Kids Care, Inc. was founded by Anthony Cardinal and Anton Cardinal, who took action to help the children of service men and women. 

3. Is a legitimate charity?

Yes. 1st Veterans Kids Care, Inc. was granted tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service functioning as a charity under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to the organization are deductible as charitable contributions. The 1st Vets Federal I.D. number for donations is #27-0206132. 5. Who does 1st Veterans Kids Care, Inc. serve?

1st Vets' mission is to honor and empower the children of our service men and women who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, wound, or co-incident during their military service. You may also be eligible for the program if you are the family member or caregiver of a veteran’s children. 

6.  I'm a veteran. How can I join or get involved?

Sign up online for our 1st Vets membership program or our 1st Vets volunteers. Throughout the year, we offer a wide range of events and activities around the country designed just for Alumni. These activities include sporting events, educational sessions, and social events that give children a chance to be children. 

7.  How can I help the children of veterans and service members?

There are so many different ways to get involved and make a difference! Here are a few ideas:

  • Volunteer. Call 863-325-5266 and ask about volunteer opportunities.

  • Advocate for children of service members. Call or write your congressional representatives or senators and urge them to make service members' benefits a legislative priority.

  • Help raise awareness. Even the most superficial efforts can make a difference. Help spread the word about the needs of wounded service members and the work of 1st Vets in your home community. 

  • Consider a financial gift. Financial contributions are always greatly appreciated if you're in a position to do so. You may even host a fundraising event with your friends to benefit warriors!

  • Honor service members. If you know a service member, thank them for their service and sacrifices. These small gestures mean so much!

  • You can support veterans by shopping with 1st Vets on our  Products page. 100% of profits go to supporting our programs and services.

8. Other than giving away back-to-school supplies and backpacks, what type of services do you provide?

1st Vets provides programs and services to children of service members and their families and numerous valuable resources. Please visit our Programs page and browse all our offerings.

Anyone can sign up to join our email list through our online subscription form. You'll receive the latest news about injured service members plus our monthly e-newsletter.

Donation FAQs

1. What percentage of my donation goes directly to 1st Veterans Kids Care, Inc.?

100% of your donation supports wounded warriors. 71% pays for programs, and the balance pays to support those programs.

2. I'd like to sign up for a monthly gift. How do I do this?

1st Vets monthly giving program is called ________. This program provides 1st Vets with a reliable, low-cost source of long-term income for 1st Vets programs and services. Simply fill out our online donation form or download a copy and mail it in today.

3. Can I make donations to a particular veteran or their family?

Unfortunately, 1st Vets cannot direct funds to a geographic location or specific individual.

4. I would rather mail a check. To whom do I make it out, and where do I send it?

5. Can I donate in memory or honor of a loved one who has passed away?

Donations made in honor of a loved one are always welcome. If you wish to make a memorial or honorary donation online, please use our online form. If you wish to mail in your memorial or honorary donation, please download and fill out a donation form to include your check or credit card information.

When making a memorial donation to 1st Vets, please make your check payable to 1st Veterans Kids Care, Inc. If posting our address for an obituary requesting a donation be sent to 1st Vets of flowers, please use the following contact information:

6. Will the honoree or their family receive a letter notifying them of my donation?

1st Vets will notify the family or individual of your gift if the name and address of the honoree are provided. You may enter this information at the bottom of our online and downloadable donation forms.

7.  When will I receive a receipt for my contribution?

The donor should receive receipts 4-6 weeks after the donation is made.

8. When will I receive a tax letter summarizing all my donations for the year?

Tax receipts are sent in January and February of the following year. For example, a 2015 tax receipt will be sent to the donor in January or February of 2016.

9. I wish to mention the 1st Veterans Kids Care, Inc. in my will. How can I do this?

Read through our information on planned giving and then contact us at 863-325-5266. We will provide you with additional information you need to consider when making this decision.

10. I want to donate my home or other real property to 1st Veterans Kids Care, Inc. How can I do this?

Please contact our office directly, and we can assess the situation on an individual basis.
